Hello 2012...Now that you're 3/4 complete!

Good day to you all!  It's been a while since we've posted so here is an update to anyone who doesn't check Facebook that often ;-)

Holly
"The sweetest and most caring person in the household (next to the inanimate gallon of sweet tea)"

If you know Holly you know that she is an amazing person.  Well, that hasn't changed.  Love and compassion is never in shortage when "mama" is around :-)  Holly is at school teaching her class as I type.  She is pretty good at it :-)  I believe she brings so much to her school - from her "go the extra mile" attitude to her honest desire to see each and every one of her kids succeed at school AND life.

The doctor just told Holly that she has a slight case of pneumonia - which makes her cough horribly.  Baby girl and I hate to see her in so much pain...but she is on medication right now and seems to be making great progress!  Hopefully within 3 days she will no longer ferociously cough, which is comparable to a Blood Hound spotting a rabbit. (I tried to make that analogy "cute" for her sake)

Olivia
"The shortest, cutest, loudest, potty-training person in the household"

Olivia is doing great!  About 2 weeks ago, Olivia could reach the light switch to turn it OFF but not ON.  Well, today, prior to her nap, she was easily turning the light switch ON.  Yeesh!  She is growing so fast!

In addition to getting taller, baby girl is also potty training right now.  She alerts us each and every time when she has to use the restroom.  Sometimes the shout of "Poop, daddy!" is a false alarm.  Nevertheless, we take her - if only to keep the process intact.

Olivia loves watching the jets fly overhead, garbage trucks in action, the school bus pick up neighbor kids and birds fly in the sky.  She is a ball of energy :-)  I can't wait to take baby girl camping and watch her explore the great outdoors!

Grandma (June, my mom) spends time with Olivia 3 days Holly & I work.  The gratefulness that Holly & I feel for this service is immeasurable.  My mother has a huge heart and loves Olivia to pieces.  They have so much fun hanging out.  She currently says, "Heema" instead of "Grandma."  No one seems to mind the cuteness.

Also, Olivia is clearly and fluently counting to 14.  That's right - our daughter is smart.  Next, we are going to see how well she can do our taxes...

Josh
"The tallest, craziest, book-reading, who tries to make everyone laugh each day person in the household"

Well, I'm doing great.  So much has happened this year that utilizing bullets instead of paragraphs seems more desirable.  Here goes:
- Co-lead students on a missions trip to the Navajo Reservation in Kayenta, AZ
- Lead a team up to a campground to help renovate it before 9 weeks of Summer Camps
- Finished my Bible courses (1st level)
- Started 2nd level of Bible courses
- Will become an official pastor in February 2013
- Hiked the Grand Canyon in May (http://joshrahn.posterous.com/the-grand-canyon-adventure-2012)
- Accepted the position of leading our Student Ministry Department at our church
- Will, for the 1st time, embark on a deer hunting trip later this month

Whew!  What else to say?  God has blessed our family - whether we are sick or healthy, tired or energized, financially well or struggling...God is good to us.  We do our best to love and honor him everyday.  I am eternally grateful for everything he has done for us.  He's kinda cool :-)

More adventures will be posted as they occur.

Rahns out!

Nothing More Optimistic...

...than a dog waiting for a baby to make a mistake whilst eating food!

Olivia loves her little Gerber puffs...and so does Tebow. He usually cleans up the mess for us :-)

Rahn Report Addition

So, we're back again for our "yearly" update...haha! And it's my turn to do some of the writing. Yep, this is Josh.

We would like to update the world wide web and notify it of an addition to the Rahn household. Species: 6 month-old Dog (no, not another child!); Name: Tebow; Favorite Habits: Peeing on the carpet, chasing the ball, peeing on the carpet, eating, sleeping, peeing on the carpet and howling outside when he sees rabbits (instead of chasing them).

As I sit here typing, I was inspired ("directed" is a more accurate term :-)), by my niece to write about our new dog. So, here it is, Anna!

Holly just finished cleaning up dog pee so I could hang out with Anna and write this blog. I couldn't have done this without you taking on doggy duty, darlin'! (alliteration is great!)

Rahns (and 1 little Jackson) OUT!

Olivia Hannah Rahn

We are loving our sweet baby girl. She is such a joy to have! She is getting so big...rolling over... teething....talking...and spitting up peas (not her veggie of choice!). Everyday is a blessing and we thank God for answering our prayers!

Baby Girl!!

So, I know that I am a huge slacker when it comes to keeping our blog updated so my apologies. I was thinking that Josh should work on it because he may do a better job =) He he!!

We are excited that we are having a baby girl. She is due Sept. 25th so I get to beat the lovely heat fully prego! I will enjoy visiting friends pools throughout the summer. Every time we get to hear her heartbeat, I am amazed at how awesome God is in creating such miracles! She has been moving around and it is so hard to describe the feeling until you experience it yourself. I swear she is either swimming or hiking! She will be an athlete =) Maybe play football...??? (that was for you Daddy)

I will try to take some pictures so I can post my baby bump! So fun!! Until then, thank you for all the prayers and love!

Brad Paisley Concert!!

Josh and I were invited to see Brad Paisley in concert Thursday night at Cricket Pavillion. Jimmie Wayne & Dierks Bentley were there too! We had a blast. Brad P is an amazing performer and he's great live! We were able to also spend some time with good friends. Thank you for inviting us!

Lawn seats are cool! The grass was beautiful =)

My Hubby is Bald!

I know, I know... it has been quite some time since I posted last but our lives have been pretty crazy. I wanted to share some pictures of Josh's new hair style =) Josh was nominated at church to shave his head for the Youth if the attendance was 300 on Saturday night. Well, Josh is now bald. I truly think that he looks good. He looks better than I thought. Go Josh! My husband is braver than I!

Josh Before.....

My sad face before the shaving began =(

Josh trying to hide =)

Let the shaving begin! Right down the middle!
