Hello 2012...Now that you're 3/4 complete!

Good day to you all!  It's been a while since we've posted so here is an update to anyone who doesn't check Facebook that often ;-)

Holly
"The sweetest and most caring person in the household (next to the inanimate gallon of sweet tea)"

If you know Holly you know that she is an amazing person.  Well, that hasn't changed.  Love and compassion is never in shortage when "mama" is around :-)  Holly is at school teaching her class as I type.  She is pretty good at it :-)  I believe she brings so much to her school - from her "go the extra mile" attitude to her honest desire to see each and every one of her kids succeed at school AND life.

The doctor just told Holly that she has a slight case of pneumonia - which makes her cough horribly.  Baby girl and I hate to see her in so much pain...but she is on medication right now and seems to be making great progress!  Hopefully within 3 days she will no longer ferociously cough, which is comparable to a Blood Hound spotting a rabbit. (I tried to make that analogy "cute" for her sake)

Olivia
"The shortest, cutest, loudest, potty-training person in the household"

Olivia is doing great!  About 2 weeks ago, Olivia could reach the light switch to turn it OFF but not ON.  Well, today, prior to her nap, she was easily turning the light switch ON.  Yeesh!  She is growing so fast!

In addition to getting taller, baby girl is also potty training right now.  She alerts us each and every time when she has to use the restroom.  Sometimes the shout of "Poop, daddy!" is a false alarm.  Nevertheless, we take her - if only to keep the process intact.

Olivia loves watching the jets fly overhead, garbage trucks in action, the school bus pick up neighbor kids and birds fly in the sky.  She is a ball of energy :-)  I can't wait to take baby girl camping and watch her explore the great outdoors!

Grandma (June, my mom) spends time with Olivia 3 days Holly & I work.  The gratefulness that Holly & I feel for this service is immeasurable.  My mother has a huge heart and loves Olivia to pieces.  They have so much fun hanging out.  She currently says, "Heema" instead of "Grandma."  No one seems to mind the cuteness.

Also, Olivia is clearly and fluently counting to 14.  That's right - our daughter is smart.  Next, we are going to see how well she can do our taxes...

Josh
"The tallest, craziest, book-reading, who tries to make everyone laugh each day person in the household"

Well, I'm doing great.  So much has happened this year that utilizing bullets instead of paragraphs seems more desirable.  Here goes:
- Co-lead students on a missions trip to the Navajo Reservation in Kayenta, AZ
- Lead a team up to a campground to help renovate it before 9 weeks of Summer Camps
- Finished my Bible courses (1st level)
- Started 2nd level of Bible courses
- Will become an official pastor in February 2013
- Hiked the Grand Canyon in May (http://joshrahn.posterous.com/the-grand-canyon-adventure-2012)
- Accepted the position of leading our Student Ministry Department at our church
- Will, for the 1st time, embark on a deer hunting trip later this month

Whew!  What else to say?  God has blessed our family - whether we are sick or healthy, tired or energized, financially well or struggling...God is good to us.  We do our best to love and honor him everyday.  I am eternally grateful for everything he has done for us.  He's kinda cool :-)

More adventures will be posted as they occur.

Rahns out!
